Rangi Paruhi / Te Ao Marama
On the 22nd of July 2025 marked the culmination of a 3 year journey between the Ministry of Justice, Tai Timu Tai Pari and its partners in testing and implementing Te Ao Marama in the Whangarei Family Violence Court.
The event was held at the Hihiaua Cultural Centre and was attended by many who have contributed to this important kaupapa with beautiful waiata performed by the Ngātiwai Kaumātua Kapa Haka group.
Ngatiwai Trust Board through their chair Aprehama Edwards gifted the name Rangi Paruhi. This name reflects a sense of new beginnings and the opportunity to create something enduring - a calm, clear moment to implement positive change.
It speaks to our aspirations for mokopuna and whanau to experience lives full of wellbeing, connection and lasting transformation.
We extend our sincere appreciation to all who have contributed to this journey. - It is only the beginning.
Thank you to the kaimahi and Ministry of Justice staff for your dedication in bringing to life the vision of Chief District Court Judge Hemi Taumaunu and his judicial colleagues.
