Our History
Tai Timu Tai Pari (TTTP) was the name given by local, and renowned Kuia of Te Parawhau and Tangiteroria, Kathy Diamond. Utilising the understandings of the Taiao, the ebbs and flows of the tide as an analogy for the many rises and falls our Whānau face when interacting with the multiple government agencies on the pathway to health.
The strands within the logo represent the four founding members of the Tai Timu Tai Pari consortium. The Niho Taniwha reflect the tides, the waves and depicts the strength one needs to navigate the sometimes turbulent ‘tides of life’. The aquatic hues are a visual representation of the depths that our Whānau may need to traverse, to then return to the surface, Mai Te Po Ki Te Ao Marama.
In Te Ao Māori, water acts as spiritual cleanser for use in Karakia, pure and Tohi. The tides are a physical manifestation by cleansing and clearing the jetsam and flotsam of Whānau hardships.
Tai Timu Tai Pari name is reflective of the many Kaupapa Māori organisations have collaborated on to navigate the ministries of Government and advocate for change to improve the quality-of-life outcomes for Whānau.
