Community of Practice Wananga

On the 2nd & 3rd of Februrary, a two-day Community of Practice Wānanga in Waitangi brought together judges, service providers, and Ministry of Justice staff to share insights on court-based services.

Kaimahi from across the country shared their experiences of working within the Te Ao Mārama framework, highlighting how it amplifies whānau voices within the court system and the positive impact it has had in the court environment.

Day One focused on whakawhanaungatanga and the sharing of experiences and information about services being delivered in the courts.

On Day Two, a Q&A session took place with Secretary for Justice Andrew Kibblewhite, Deputy Secretary Strategy Victoria Davy, and Chief Victims Advisor Ruth Money.

The afternoon concluded with a judicial panel of senior judges engaging with kaimahi to hear stories and share experiences.

The wānanga was well received, with participants valuing the open, constructive discussions and the opportunity to highlight the significant impact of the work being carried out in the courts through Te Ao Mārama.
